Compeer matches caring volunteers with adults who are in the recovery process toward better Mental Health in supportive friendship. Friends spend an hour per week with each other, engaging in activities of mutual interest. Going for a walk, enjoying a movie together, or just chatting over a cup of coffee are some of the examples of how lives are changed with the powerful medicine of friendship!
Volunteers agree to make a 15-minute phone call to their friend once a week. This is a very effective way to reduce isolation and loneliness for those waiting for a friend.
Friend for a Day
Short-term volunteer opportunity for those who are unable to commit to a 1:1 Friendship, but would like to share their skills, compassion and time at Compeer-sponsored activities: a trip to the zoo, a craft event, the annual picnic and more. Ideas and supporters for activities that are geared toward wellness in all areas are always welcome.
Adult Friendship and Support Group
Monthly meeting of friends from the community – both those recovering from Mental Illness as well as those with a desire to be a friend to them – with a variety of activities based on the interest of participants.
